Short, sourced stories about this island — how it got here, who was here first, and what is still standing.
The Landings on Skidaway Island · Savannah, Georgia
There are 151 fresh and saltwater lagoons at The Landings, and hardly a house on the island sits more than a couple hundred yards from one. About half hold largemouth bass and bream; the other half are brackish, with red drum and spotted sea trout.
Your Association dues cover more ground than most people realize — 91 miles of roads, seven gated entrances, two marinas, three RV storage lots, the nature trail, the dog park and the community garden.
Georgia exempts up to $65,000 per person of retirement income once you turn 65, and that includes pensions, dividends, interest and capital gains. Food and prescription drugs are exempt from sales tax too.
Published every Wednesday — the market and all things The Landings.
